Renascentur Surrey Rugby Lodge is celebrating after one of its founding members, Worshipful Brother Andrew Bushe, was elected Chairman of the Association of Rugby Lodges at its Annual General Meeting on Monday 24 August.
Andrew’s appointment marks an important milestone, not only for the Association but also for Renascentur Surrey Rugby Lodge, which played a key role in its formation.
Back in September 2023, Renascentur Surrey Rugby Lodge was honoured to be a signatory to the formation of the Association of Rugby Lodges.
It was a memorable occasion, held in the magnificent surroundings of the Grand Temple at Freemasons’ Hall, Great Queen Street, where the newly signed Constitution was presented to the Pro Grand Master.
What began as a gathering of Rugby Lodges united by a shared passion for both rugby and Freemasonry has continued to grow from strength to strength.
Andrew has been closely involved in the Rugby Lodge movement from its earliest days.
A founding member of Renascentur Surrey Rugby Lodge and also a member of London Rugby Lodge, his election as Chairman recognises the enthusiasm, commitment and leadership he has shown in helping to strengthen the bonds between Rugby Lodges across the Constitution.
His commitment to the wider rugby family extends beyond Freemasonry. Andrew also serves as a Surrey committee member for Wooden Spoon, rugby’s children’s charity, supporting projects that help transform the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children and young people through the power of rugby.
That combination of Masonic fellowship, rugby values and charitable service makes him exceptionally well placed to lead the Association into its next chapter.
The timing is particularly fitting, with the Association’s next national meeting taking place at Freemasons’ Hall on 5 September. Rugby Lodges from across England and Wales will once again come together to share ideas, strengthen friendships and celebrate the unique bond that inspired the Association’s creation.
For the members of Renascentur Surrey Rugby Lodge, Andrew’s election carries an added sense of pride.
From standing together in the Grand Temple as the Association was founded to now seeing one of its own elected to lead it, the journey reflects what can be achieved when like-minded people unite behind a common purpose.
