In September 2026, Ryan Williamson took on the Royal British Legion’s Pedal to Paris, cycling 460km from London to Paris over four days to raise money for serving personnel, veterans and their families.

Ryan joined around 120 other cyclists for the journey, setting off from London and riding through the Kent countryside before crossing the Channel and continuing through northern France towards Paris.

It was certainly no gentle bike ride. Four days of long hours in the saddle, tired legs and plenty of miles still to go made it a real physical and mental challenge.

What kept everyone going was the fantastic camaraderie within the group, with riders looking out for each other and offering encouragement when things got tough.

There was an added Masonic connection too.

Along the way, Ryan met Brothers from other Provinces who were also taking part.

Amongst a group of 120 riders, it was great to discover fellow Freemasons on the road and to know there were Brothers around looking out for one another as the miles went by.

The challenge also had a very personal meaning for Ryan. As an active member and Standard Bearer of the Royal British Legion, supporting the Armed Forces community is something already close to his heart.

Pedal to Paris was a chance to combine that with a serious personal challenge and, most importantly, raise money for a cause that means a great deal to him.

After four tough but memorable days, the riders came together for the final ride into the French capital.
Cycling through Paris as a group and finally reaching the Arc de Triomphe was an unforgettable way to finish 460km on the road.

Together, this year’s riders have so far raised an incredible £351,460 for the Royal British Legion, helping the charity continue its work supporting the Armed Forces community.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who donated, sponsored Ryan or sent words of encouragement along the way. His fundraising page is still open for anyone who would like to add to that fantastic total.
